Detached Advisory Workers Post

A petition was submitted on behalf of residents who whole heartedly agreed with the premises of a petition to save the post of the Detached Advisory Worker at the People's Enterprise & Empowerment Forum in Nelson. They believed the post to be pivotal to the ordinary residents of Pendle who were dealing with many issues that the post directly helped with.

It was agreed at the Full Council meeting that the posts will remain with a reduction of hours to fit in with the budget.

Disabled Parking

Pendle Council puts Market stalls on Disabled parking bays in the Market Hall car park in Colne, leaving lots of parking spaces for the able bodied, every Wednesday and Saturday. I feel this is not just plain discrimination against disabled drivers, it shows what Pendle council think of disabled people in Pendle and also disabled visitors to Pendle. Pendle council do not appear to care about the 2010 equality act as they refuse to abide by it, so with your help the council may start to listen to us. Please stop putting stalls on the disabled parking bays with immediate effect. I hope you will help. Steve.

More Public toilets not less

Ribble Valley should have more updated public toilets in the bourgh. The present RVBC and elected councillors are diverting funds for the existing toilets into their own administration pockets. They are letting the tourist and community sections down badly by closing 33% of public toilets. This partition is to demand that more modern toilets be built in ALL villages and towns in the Ribble Valley. Also to increse the number of toilets in the main towns and make them available 24 hours / 7 Days a week day.

The petition closed on 26th March 2012. Thanks to all 18 people who signed.

As the petition has not been formally submitted to the Council by the petition creator, the Council are not required to issue a response. However, the information gained and the list of signatures has been forwarded onto Ribble Valley for their information.

Clitheroe Residents Action Group (CRAG) 25% for 25%

We request that The Core Strategy on housing reflect the location and distribution of the Borough of Ribble Valley population as it currently is.   Whilst we recognise the need for future housing in the Borough of Ribble Valley we request that the the housing needs of the Borough should represent the same proportion as population distribution.   Therefore, as the town of Clitheroe currently constitutes 25% of the total Borough of Ribble Valley population, the proposed new developments within this town should also equate to 25% of the total requirement, thus ensuring a fair and equitable approach to future housing needs.

Skate Park in Colne

Our names are James Brooks (14) and Liam Whalley (14) and we reside on the North Valley Estate. We worked on a school project for Park High School during the summer holidays to collect a petition in a bid to secure a skate park in the Colne area. We recently have had a seven week holiday during the summer and part of that time hsa been quite boring because there is nothing to do so we have had to travel to Queens Park in Burnley to use the cycle ramps, scooter ramps and skateboard ramps because there is nothing like this in Colne.

We have done a petition which contains 48 names and addresses of local residents who would support a skate park being installed in the local area to give local children somewhere to play during the holidays and weekends. Local residents have also said that this kind of initiative could help reduce anti-social behavior on the estate caused by children who are bored and have nothing to do.

No to green field building (Pendle)

We object to greenfields and amenity land being used for new house building in Barnoldswick. We urge Pendle Council to remove land at Clifford Street and Parker Street from its Housing Land Allocation. Click here to see the full list of 498 signatures (pdf, 2mb).

Save our PCSOs!

Our Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) have done a lot for Reedley Primary School and the local area in the past. But with public sector cuts, their jobs could be at stake. They keep our community and us safe. So please help us keep our PCSOs, Mark Crossley and Matthew Hartup, by signing this petition.

Save Clitheroe Hospital

Over 2 years ago, NHS East Lancashire, working closely with local GPs, other healthcare professionals, local representatives and members of the public, put together a plan to build a new hospital in Clitheroe on the site next to the current facility. This was going to be a new build financed as part of the LIFT Developments (Local Improvement Finance Trust) to improve healthcare facilities across East Lancashire. This scheme had already seen wonderful new facilities built in Burnley, Nelson, Bacup and Accrington (x2), but nothing in Ribble Valley. Whilst NHS East Lancashire had put some money into Clitheroe Health Centre to support local services, no significant developments havd been made at the local hospital for over 15 years. In October 2010, NHS East Lancashire decided that the propsed new development would not go ahead, for financial reasons. Local GPs and members of the public are very disappointed about this, and are extremely anxious that significant investment be made in the development of the existing hospital. The Primary Care Trust has given a committment to consult with local people, and it is important that people have their say? Why a petition then? Well, some people fear that Clitheroe Hospital will just get forgotten about and "wither on the vine". We don't want that. We want NHS East Lancashire to put together a definite plan to upgrade local health services. This includes retaining hospital beds at the hospital, together with improving access to other services such as day care for the elderly, X-Ray and others diagnostics facilities, outpatient services, and access to specialist nursing services. All to support local people, and to avoid un-necessary travelling to large hospitals further away that our often elderly and isolated communities are unable to get to. Please sign the petition to SAVE CLITHEROE HOSPITAL - we need NHS East Lancashire to agree to upgrade our local hospital and keep services local.

Allow dogs to run free on Towneley Playing Fields (Burnley)

Burnley Council is consulting on proposals that would restrict the exercise of dogs in the sports pitchs and other areas of Towneley. I am against the proposal that dogs should be on lead everywhere in this area as this restricts our freedom to enjoy our dogs, and more importantly it affects the well being of the dog.
